History
Built around 1884, the Joseph Dienger Building in Boerne served as a general store and residence for Joseph and Ida Dienger and their seven children, with a dry-goods extension added in 1900. Combining local limestone with an ornate wraparound two-story wooden porch, it later housed a restaurant before the city purchased it in 1989 and opened it as the Boerne Public Library in 1991. The building was designated a Texas Historic Landmark in 1980 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
