History

Williams Cemetery, off Farm Road 532 north of Hallettsville, is more than 125 years old and once stood beside an old Baptist church. Though its cleared area could have held many more, only about eighteen graves are marked, the oldest for Effie E. Best, who died August 19, 1880. The most recent burial took place in 1971, and the cemetery now sits in brush near the old Williams homestead.
