History

Old Moulton Cemetery marks the site of the original town of Moulton, which gradually relocated about two miles east in 1887 after the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railroad bypassed it. The earliest documented grave is that of Louisa Lattimer (1842-1857), on land deeded for cemetery use by early settlers Robert H. and Eliza J. McGinty. Among its hundreds of graves, many unmarked, lie county pioneers, former slaves, and veterans from the Texas Revolution through the twentieth century; the Texas Historical Commission placed a marker here in 1991.
