History
Old Moulton Cemetery lies about a mile southeast of the original townsite of Moulton, a Lavaca County community founded in the mid-1850s roughly two miles northwest of the present town. Early settlers Robert H. and Eliza J. McGinty deeded the land for burial use, and the first interment is believed to have taken place in 1855 or 1856; the earliest documented grave is that of Louisa Lattimer (1842-1857). Those buried here include county pioneers, former slaves, and veterans ranging from the Texas Revolution through the 20th century, and the Texas Historical Commission placed a marker at the site in 1991.
