History

Terry Cemetery is a small family burial ground of about fifteen marked graves near the Hope community south of Hallettsville in Lavaca County, sited on land that once held the Terry School. Its oldest stone marks the grave of John McHenry Terry, who died in 1860. Members of area families such as the Thigpen and Smothers families are also interred there.
