History

Grace Armantrout, born in 1902, spent nearly her whole life in George West as an avid collector and left her estate and collection in trust to the community when she died in 1990. The museum displays her heirlooms and antiques alongside Live Oak County artifacts, including a washstand that belonged to town namesake George Washington West, antique firearms, seashells, smoking pipes, and vintage furniture.
