History

The Hodge-Taylor House, built about 1852 roughly two and a half miles west of Jefferson, is a one-story Greek Revival center-passage house and one of the few surviving rural early-settler homes in Marion County. Originally the homestead of landowner and surveyor Berry Hodge, it passed to D.W.H. Taylor in 1870, whose family occupied it until 1889. It was added to the National Register in 1997.
