The S. D. Rainey Home in Jefferson was built in 1880 by cotton factor S. D. Rainey in an ornate Midwestern Rococo style. Reflecting the wealth of Jefferson during its era as a busy Red River port, the house was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1966 and stands among the town's many preserved Victorian residences.
