History

Pleasant Green Cemetery is an African American burial ground in the Hudgins settlement of eastern Matagorda County, associated with the Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church and adjacent to the congregation's original, now-disused church building. Part of the community that grew around land bought by freedman Ino Hudgins in 1874, it contains many more graves than surviving markers.
