History

Calf Creek Cemetery serves the small farming community of Calf Creek in southwestern McCulloch County, about twelve miles southwest of Brady. The settlement grew from a group that arrived from Kansas in 1874 and was known successively as Deland and Tucker before taking the name Calf Creek in 1915, from the nearby creek that flows to the San Saba River. Land for the community's schoolhouse and adjoining cemetery was donated by the Huey family about 1902-1903, and Baptist and Methodist congregations organized there in 1903.
