History

Sand Point Cemetery lies in Precinct 3 near the old Sand Point community, a Santa Fe Railroad watering stop roughly midway between Milano and Elevation, where Dr. Uriah Thweatt operated a cotton gin before 1900. Its roughly 56 marked graves include several Confederate veterans, as well as Sarah Ann Adams Lagrone, whose stone bears a Daughters of the Republic of Texas medallion.
