History

Sand Grove Cemetery served the farming community of Sand Grove, about five miles south of Milano in southeastern Milam County, which took its name from the local sandy soil. Sand Grove was a voting precinct by 1881 and had a two-teacher school with ninety-four students in 1903; the school consolidated with Milano in 1931, and today only a church and the cemetery mark the site, maintained by the Sand Grove Cemetery Association.
