History

Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Priddy grew out of the Sandoval community, settled in 1882 by German, Austrian, Swiss, and French immigrants along Turkey Creek. Residents organized Zion Lutheran Church in March 1893 under its first pastor, the Rev. J. Rode, and laid out this cemetery across from their first church building, where the earliest documented burial dates to 1897. The congregation built a sanctuary beside the burial ground in 1932, and the cemetery still serves the church today.
