Grace School of Theology was incorporated on May 29, 2001, as Houston Theological Seminary, the vision of Dr. Dave Anderson, longtime senior pastor of Faith Bible Church in The Woodlands, together with Dr. Glenn Darby and five other founding trustees. Its first classes met in fall 2002 inside Faith Bible Church and Cypress Bible Church, and in 2003 it adopted its current name after a new state law restricted use of the word "seminary." The school began teaching online in 2008, awarded its first degrees in 2010, earned TRACS accreditation for graduate programs in 2012, and added ATS accreditation in 2017. It has since grown into a multilingual institution with teaching sites across Texas and abroad, offering degrees from the bachelor's level through the Doctor of Ministry and PhD.
