History

Dot's Mini Museum is a tiny roadside collection on Route 66 in Vega, tracing its origins to 1944 when Dot Leavitt and her husband ran a frozen-food locker business serving locals and passing travelers. Housed in a small room roughly eight by twenty feet, the free museum displays Dot's eclectic collection of cowboy boots, Avon bottles, and Route 66 memorabilia. Dot was inducted into the Texas Route 66 Association Hall of Fame in 1997, a Texas Historical Marker was placed at the site in 2003, and her family continued caring for the museum after her death in 2006.
