History
The Milburn-Price Culture Museum in Vega occupies the former Western Lumber and Hardware building, a fixture on Route 66 since the late 1920s and one of the longest-running hardware stores on the Mother Road. The nonprofit 'touch museum' encourages hands-on interaction with an eclectic mix of artifacts, military vehicles, a Model T Ford, and an 1896 printing press. Among its unusual features are dust globes packaged from 1930s Dust Bowl dust found in the attic and a 22-foot, 3,000-pound XIT branding iron commissioned in 2018.
