History

The Gordon Community Library and Museum occupies what may be the oldest structure in Gordon, a sandstone building erected between about 1880 and 1900 from rock quarried on Swank Mountain by local storekeeper Silas Graves. In the 1920s John Bunyan Harlin ran a grocery from the building. Today it operates as a volunteer-staffed nonprofit library and local-history museum serving Palo Pinto County.
