History

Scott Cemetery lies in far eastern Panola County off Farm Road 2517 and is maintained by the Scott Cemetery Association. Its annual memorial, held the first Sunday in June, grew out of a birthday gathering for early settler Andrew Jackson Mayfield that was first held at the Mayfield home and later moved to the church grounds. The cemetery was surveyed in 1998 and continues to host the yearly homecoming.
