History

Bethlehem Cemetery in Panola County was established before 1875 on land deeded by W. R. Page and served the congregation of Bethlehem Methodist Church, formally organized in 1875. A log church had stood at the site for decades before that, used as a place of worship for people of all faiths. Several generations of pioneer Panola County families are buried among its more than 300 marked graves, the earliest recorded death dating to 1867.
