History

Walton Cemetery lies about five miles from Carthage across the road from Ebenezer United Methodist Church, a congregation organized in 1843. When vandals destroyed the markers at the older Old Walton Cemetery in the 1960s, the remains of pioneer William Davis were exhumed and reburied in the present cemetery. Its records draw on Hawthorn Funeral Home files dating back to 1941.
