History
The Vintage Grill & Car Museum in Weatherford was founded by Fort Worth oilman Tom Moncrief, inspired by a combination car museum and restaurant he visited in Sydney, Australia, and opened in early 2015. Its buildings date to around 1919, and by 1921, when the Bankhead Highway reached town, the site held a 50-car garage, an auto sales office, gas pumps, and a repair shop; the former gas station also served as Weatherford's Greyhound bus station. A companion Vintage Car Museum and Event Center opened in 2016 one block west, its walls the original 1886 rock of a former livery stable.
