History
The Museum of the Americas in Weatherford presents the folk art and crafts of native peoples of the Americas through a collection of largely late-nineteenth- and twentieth-century objects. Holdings range from Northwest Coast carvings and Plains Indian graphics to Seminole costumes, Kuna molas from Panama, a miniature Mexican village, and a nineteenth-century Mexican altar. It is housed in a historic downtown building that has served over the years as a courthouse, library, and school before becoming a museum in the 1990s.
