History
The Amarillo U.S. Post Office and Courthouse was built in 1937-38 in the Art Deco and Moderne styles, designed by noted Texas architect Wyatt C. Hedrick. Its west lobby holds six New Deal murals painted in 1941 by Julius Woeltz under the Treasury Department's Section of Fine Arts, depicting the Panhandle's history. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000, the building was later renamed the J. Marvin Jones Federal Building and Mary Lou Robinson United States Courthouse.
