History
St. James Colored Methodist Episcopal Church was a historic African American church built in 1920 at 408 N. Border Avenue in Tyler, serving a CME congregation with deep roots in the community. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004; the historic building was demolished around 2023, though the congregation remains active in Tyler.
