History
The Somervell County Courthouse in Glen Rose was built in 1893 after the previous courthouse and all county records burned earlier that year. Designed by architect John Cormack of San Antonio, it is a Late Victorian Romanesque building of native limestone with round-arched openings, projecting pedimented entrances and a clock tower. A 1902 tornado badly damaged the roof and tower; the courthouse was restored toward its original design in 1986 and stands as the visual anchor of the Glen Rose Downtown Historic District.
