History
Morning Chapel C.M.E. Church was organized in Fort Worth in 1868 by a group of freed slaves and affiliated with the Colored Methodist Episcopal Church in 1873. The current limestone building at 903 E. Third Street was constructed in 1934-1936 in the Late Gothic Revival style to designs by local architect W. C. Meador, using stone from the congregation's condemned earlier church. It features buttresses, lancet art-glass windows, and a square entrance tower, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 27, 1999.
