History

The Texas Civil War Museum opened in 2006 in White Settlement, west of Fort Worth, and was the largest Civil War museum west of the Mississippi River. Built and curated by oil-company executive Ray Richey, the roughly 15,000-square-foot museum arranged Confederate and Union artifacts in mirror-image displays across eight galleries covering infantry, cavalry, artillery, the navy, medicine, Texas, flags, and period dresses. The museum closed on October 30, 2024.
