History

Drummond Cemetery began on land bought in 1891 by English immigrant Helen Fanny Harris Drummond, who by 1895 had set aside two acres for a burial ground; the deed was recorded in 1901. The earliest marked grave is that of an infant son of Joseph and Nannie Hammond, buried in 1892, and Helen Drummond herself was interred here in 1896. The Drummond Cemetery Association was organized in 1973, and a Texas Historical Commission marker was placed at the site in 2004.
