History

Rose Hill Cemetery, also known as Merkel Cemetery, lies at the eastern edge of Merkel in western Taylor County. Its recorded burials reach back to 1884, and the grounds are estimated to hold well over ten thousand graves, many of them unmarked. It remains the principal burial ground for the Merkel community.
