History

Gomez Cemetery is the last surviving remnant of Gomez, the first town established in Terry County. Platted in 1903 with a post office named for Cuban independence general Máximo Gómez, the townsite faded after nearby Brownfield became the county seat. The cemetery's graves date from about 1900 through 1918.
