History
The Old Victoria County Courthouse was designed by James Riely Gordon and completed in 1892, making it one of the oldest surviving courthouses in Texas and the only Gulf Coast courthouse by Gordon still standing. Its Romanesque Revival design, with a tall central tower facing De Leon Plaza, drew on H. H. Richardson's Allegheny County Courthouse. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, is a State Antiquities Landmark, and was fully restored in 2001.
