History
The J. R. Routt House, also known as the Routt-Crockett House, began in the 1850s as a four-room cottage built by Marcus P. Munyan in Chappell Hill. After J. R. Routt acquired the property in 1898, he had contractor J. W. Heartfield move the original cottage to the rear and enlarge it into a substantial Late Victorian house. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 20, 1985.
