History

Designed by Supervising Architect of the Treasury James Knox Taylor and completed in 1907, the Laredo U.S. Post Office, Court House and Custom House is a Neoclassical building constructed largely of limestone at 1300 Matamoros Street to serve the growing border city's federal functions. It displays the dignified governmental character typical of early-20th-century federal buildings, with terrazzo and marble interior finishes, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
