History
The Hamilton Hotel in downtown Laredo is a Spanish Renaissance Revival high-rise designed by the San Antonio architects Atlee and Robert Ayres; an initial section was built in 1923 and the 13-story tower followed in 1928, making it one of the tallest buildings in the city. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992, and a roughly $13 million rehabilitation completed in 2000 converted it into affordable apartments for low-income elderly residents.
