History
William Pearce built this stone produce warehouse in Georgetown in 1904 to serve a wholesale grocery operation beside the railroad. Thick stone walls of about twenty inches, a vented roof cupola and spring water channeled through the basement kept produce cool, part of an industrial cluster of mills, an ice plant and depots along the tracks. The building was listed on the National Register in the late 1970s and later designated a State Archeological Landmark.
