History

Loving Cemetery serves the community of Loving in northeastern Young County, founded in 1907 on land that was part of the Lost Valley Loving Ranch and named for the family of cattleman Oliver Loving, the trail driver of Goodnight-Loving Trail fame. The community moved about a mile north around 1910 to reach the new Gulf, Texas and Western Railway, and the cemetery carries a Historic Texas Cemetery designation.
