About this tour

Montrose has long been the cultural and social heart of LGBTQ Houston — a leafy, eclectic neighborhood of bungalows, bars, bookshops, and cafes just west of downtown that became a gathering place, a refuge, and a home. Each year, Houston Pride brings that community into the streets in a joyful public celebration, one of the largest Pride events in the South. This short walking loop moves through Montrose and toward the parade's civic stage, tracing the district's history as a center of gathering and belonging. It's meant to be celebratory and factual — a tribute to a neighborhood and the community that shaped it. Wear comfortable shoes, and come with an open, festive spirit.
