About this tour

Hermann Park has been Houston's great family gathering place for more than a century, and tucked inside its shady acres is one of the most-visited zoos in the country. This walking day pairs the animals of the Houston Zoo with the free treasures of the park around it — a garden of stone paths and waterfalls, a lake where you can pedal a boat among the ducks, and a little train that loops through it all. The route starts inside the zoo among elephants and rainforest creatures, then steps back out into the park for a ride, a stroll, and a picnic. The zoo is a separate ticketed attraction while the park stops are free and open daily, so build your day around your zoo tickets. It's an easy, kid-paced mile with plenty of shade, benches, and places to stop and play.
