About this tour

On the northeast edge of downtown, the streets around the Astros' ballpark hum on game nights with fans in orange and blue looking for a bite and a beer before first pitch. This short evening walk loops the ballpark district — a neighborhood built up on the bones of the historic Union Station, now folded into the stadium's grand entry. You'll pass the old rail depot, the restaurant row that fills up before games, and the corner of the East Downtown scene where breweries and taquerias have taken root. It's a stroll, not a marathon: less than a mile of easy sidewalk with plenty of excuses to stop. Time it for early evening, work up an appetite, and let the crowd carry you toward the roar of the roof opening.
