About this tour

Conjunto is the sound of San Antonio's West Side — button accordion and bajo sexto music born in barrio dance halls and carried forward through generations of Tejano families. This drive traces its roots from the nightclub where the genre found its signature style, through the movie-palace-turned-arts-center that keeps the tradition alive today, to the neighborhood park where the world's oldest conjunto festival still fills the air every spring. Along the way you'll meet the Lark of the Border, the woman who put Tejano music on record before almost anyone else.
