Two ambushes, two years apart, same street corner on Main Plaza — the killing that ended Jack Harris and the 1884 gunfight that took down Ben Thompson and King Fisher, two of the deadliest gunmen in Texas, in a hail of bullets from a theater box above. This half-mile downtown walk visits the plazas, the old jail, and the hotel tied to San Antonio's one bona fide marquee Old West gunfight — extensively documented in trial testimony and the era's rival newspapers, and still called the most famous shootout in San Antonio history.
