About this tour

Long before Pioneer Flour Mills, the San Antonio River was already turning millstones for Spanish colonial families living off the Pajalache acequia. This short drive connects that older, half-forgotten mill site to the Guenther family's much bigger operation a mile upstream — the 1868 upper mill, the 1860 family home, and the museum and restaurant that now occupy it. It's a story about water doing the same job for three different centuries: irrigation ditch, gristmill, and finally a flour company still running under its founder's name today.
