About this tour

For six months in 1968, San Antonio hosted a genuine World's Fair — HemisFair '68, built around the theme 'The Confluence of Civilizations in the Americas' — and the city has never looked quite the same since. This walk crosses the old fairgrounds, now HemisFair Park, taking in the observation tower built to be the fair's skyline-defining centerpiece, the Texas and Mexico pavilions that both outlasted the fair itself, the site of the arena the fair left behind for the young NBA Spurs franchise, and the modern public garden that keeps the whole park drawing crowds today.
