About this tour
From a 1972 Steve McQueen getaway to Selena's greatest concert to Pee-wee Herman's search for a basement that doesn't exist, downtown San Antonio has been Hollywood's favorite stand-in for 'iconic Texas' for fifty years — usually by filming the real Alamo. This drive visits five confirmed movie locations, correcting a few popular myths along the way (the 1960 and 2004 Alamo films were NOT shot here) so the real filming history gets its due without the marketing puffery.
