About this tour

Before it was the heart of Mexican-American San Antonio, the West Side was the city's rail gateway — and, a century before that, a Texas Revolution battlefield. This short walk starts at a domed 1908 passenger depot that once welcomed travelers and immigrants from across the country, passes the hotel that grew up to serve them, continues into the neighborhood their arrival built, and ends at the ground where insurgent and royalist forces clashed in 1813, decades before any railroad reached San Antonio.
