History
The Trolley Stop at 4900 Broadway Street in Alamo Heights is a faux bois streetcar shelter built in 1927 by Mexican-born artist Dionicio Rodriguez, who used a chemical process to make sculpted cement resemble petrified wood. Donated by the Alamo Cement Company, it sheltered riders on a local streetcar system that operated until the early 1930s and predates the incorporation of Alamo Heights. The trolley stop was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
