History

The San Antonio Fire Museum occupies the city's original Central Fire Headquarters, a 1938 building next to the Alamo that served as an active fire station until 2011. Conceived by a group of firefighters in 1997, the museum opened on May 31, 2013. It displays antique fire engines and firefighting equipment, along with artifacts, documents and photographs dating back to the mid-1800s.
