History

This burial ground, also recorded as the Mustang Lutheran or German Cemetery, is associated with the German Lutheran families who settled near the head of Mustang Slough in the Alvin area of northern Brazoria County. The Mustang name derives from a Santa Fe Railroad flag station established at the slough in the 1860s, and Lutheran worship in the wider Alvin community was organized by the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
