History
The Daniels Farm House in what is now Big Bend National Park's Rio Grande Village area was built in 1918 by Swedish immigrant farmer John O. Wedlin, originally as a storage shed on his irrigated bottomland farm. In 1937 John R. and Mary Coe Daniels bought the northern acreage, moved into the shed, and added a room for a small store serving the Boquillas community before leaving when the park was established in 1944. Representing one of the last vestiges of small-scale West Texas pioneer farming, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
