History

The Highland Lakes Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force, chartered in 1992, operates a working World War II aviation museum at the Burnet Municipal Airport, originally Kate Smith Airfield, a WWII pilot training base. The hangar houses flying warbirds including an AT-6/SNJ, a PT-19 Cornell, an L-17 Navion, and a C-47 named 'Texas Zephyr.' Most artifacts on display were donated by area veterans and their families.
